Pee As a constituent of yours Im writing to you because my business is under threat due to Government action. Nearly my entire stock of wireless microphones and associated equipment that I depend on for my livelihood will soon become unusable because the Government is selling the frequencies this equipment uses. Whilst the previous administration committed to a compensation package that would leave me no better or worse off, I am extremely concerned that the new Government will not honour this and instead adopt Ofcoms original compensation terms. Under these proposals, I would receive less than 1/3 of what it will cost to replace my equipment and keep my business going. For me and others in a similar position, this is a desperate situation and I ask that you ask the Government not to penalise me because they want the auction revenues. To explain the background, in the previous Parliament the campaign got the support of over 160 MPs who put their name to an EDM in support of the Save Our Sound UK campaign, which represents me. Its objective is to persuade the Government to ensure that those of us being evicted from the 800 and 600 MHz radio bands are not left out of pocket. These radio bands are used by those of us in the Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) industry to operate the wireless microphones, in-ear monitors and talkback systems that support live music, newsgathering, film making, television production, musical theatre, sports events, concerts, conferences and church, school and community events. These activities are enjoyed by the vast majority of British citizens on a daily basis and the sector makes an immense contribution to UK PLC. The Government are going to sell off these radio bands, most likely to the multi-billion pound mobile network operators Vodafone, O2, Orange/T-Mobile and 3. If recent results from similar auctions in Germany and India are any indicator this will net the Treasury billions of pounds. This makes the idea of a paltry residual value concept for compensation deeply offensive. If implemented, it would inevitably leave users like me worse off. This would devastate the industry and be a manifest injustice. In the process of evicting current users like me, clearing the spectrum and auctioning it, the Government will be making my equipment completely redundant. It doesnt affect just me but thousands of other people who make sure that this countrys live gigs, theatre productions, political conferences, community fetes and favourite TV shows can continue to be produced. Ordinary working people should not have to pay for the spectrum bonanza about to be given to the mobile network operators. The work that myself and others in the PMSE industry do, supports creative industries worth over 60bn a year to the UK (the Governments own figures). Sadly my income and that of numerous other operators is a miniscule fraction of that figure. I simply cannot afford to foot the bill for my own eviction, and moreover I shouldnt have to. Will you please write to Danny Alexander at the Treasury and give your support for full compensation to those of us in the PMSE industry affected by the impending spectrum clearance. Yours sincerely Mr Con Stituent PAGE "#2;<>@JKOP^_cy{ʻʻʻʟʻxl`l`l`PDhMFCJOJQJaJhMFhMF5CJOJQJaJh.CJOJQJaJhCJOJQJaJheCJOJQJaJh CJOJQJaJh:sh?0PCJOJQJaJh./h./CJH*OJQJaJh:sCJOJQJaJh:sh3[CJOJQJaJh./CJOJQJaJhLDCJOJQJaJhCCJOJQJaJ!h?0PCJOJQJaJmHnHu#MNOP_ $xa$gd $a$gd?0P$a$gd3[$a$gddI$a$+ 4 # E K 0 , s u g o &+yz{ƺƺƮƺƺƢƢƢ{o_h.hCJH*OJQJaJh,}CJOJQJaJh CJOJQJaJhLDhLDCJOJQJaJhoCJOJQJaJhLDCJOJQJaJhVCJOJQJaJhCJOJQJaJh.CJOJQJaJhMFh5CJOJQJaJhMFh.5CJOJQJaJhMF5CJOJQJaJ#o~cu01@ʾʲʣʓʓʇʾʣ{l]Nh:sh7CJOJQJaJh:shvCJOJQJaJh:shHCJOJQJaJhLCJOJQJaJhS(JCJOJQJaJhMFho5CJOJQJaJh zh zCJOJQJaJhE$CJOJQJaJh1CJOJQJaJhoCJOJQJaJh[GhoCJOJQJaJh[Gh[GCJOJQJaJh[GCJOJQJaJ &'(*+,ʾhS(J hS(J0JjhS(J0JUhD?jhD?Uh:sh?0PCJOJQJaJh CJOJQJaJhYCJOJQJaJhrCJOJQJaJh:sh7CJOJQJaJh:shURSCJOJQJaJ()*+, $xa$gd h]hgd:s &`#$gdx 6&P 1h:p @.
